A Woodscape artKit is a style of art commonly referred to as "lathart". This style of art is made up of strips of wood, or "lath" The lath is similar to snow fence or sand fence. Woodscape artists use two different types of wood to express their art, spruce wood and basswood. The spruce wood kits are rough cut with approximate dimensions of 1 ½" wide by 24" long and ¼" thick. The wood is glued to a piece of craft paper, and the result is a sheet of lath. The sheet of lath is then pre-cut into different sized pieces, which make up your painting. The basswood kits are smoother and give a more finished appearance. The basswood kits are made up the same way as the spruce wood kits. Another difference with the basswood kits is that they are generally smaller in size and lower in cost. When you purchase a Woodscape artKit everything to complete the painting is in the kit. Each kit incudes the pre-cut pieces, paints, a paintbrush, easy step instructions, a frame and much more! Following the instructions is easy. It's a simple four-step process: 1. Number the artKit pieces. 2. Paint by number. 3. Glue by number, and 4. Frame by number. When you are finished you have created a gallery quality piece of art.

TRADITIONAL KITS -- Often significantly larger than Pre-Assembled Kits. In general, each of the pieces to be painted in the traditional kits is cut as an individual item so there are no lines to stay within when painting. The first step in creating a traditional kit is to number the pieces following a Numbering Guide. Then the pieces are snapped out of the cutting blank.

PRE-ASSEMBLED KITS -- In the Pre-Assembled kits the pieces have been removed from the cutting blank and organized on the picture backer at the factory. This saves customers one step in making a Woodscape. However more of the pieces have been etched, making the painting process slightly more challenging.

New kits are released approximately every six to eight months. When new pictures are released, the older pictures are retired. This creates a changing product line, and makes your art Kit a limited edition piece of art.
