Create Lighter Shades of Egg Dye Color
The easiest way to get a lighter shade of color is to dilute the dye with water. FOR EXAMPLE: The easiest way to get a lighter pink is to dilute it with water. Take a jar of water and add pink dye in small increments. Obviously, it would all have to be done by eye until the desired shade is achieved.
Mix Egg Dyes and Create Your Own Colors
It is a lot of fun to experiment with different color combinations. FOR EXAMPLE: To get a different shade of purple mix a packet of pink and add some light blue. Also, to get a "robin's egg blue" dip your egg into light green, then dip the egg into a jar of water for a few seconds. Some of the dye will lift off, and you get this very pretty color.
