DONNA BRINKMAN
| Donna Brinkman was an art student at Ball State University in Indiana during the heyday of abstract expressionism. Nevertheless, she gravitated toward representational and figurative work with Vermeer's use of light and form as her ideal. Her love of the human face and form has found expression in her portrait work done from life. She says, she's never seen a human face she didn't love! |
She studied watercolor extensively with the late Elizabeth Peterson and continued with the study of oils at workshops with Margaret Baumgaertner, Burt Silverman and Richard Whitney; pastels with Judy Carducci and Daniel Greene. |
Donna has been a consistent winner in local art competitions and has had her work accepted in the Best of Chicago 1999, and was a finalist in THE ARTIST MAGAZINE's Best of Portrait Painting 1998. |
Donna is a board member of the Dayton Society of Painters and Sculptors. She also belongs to the Dayton Visual Arts Center, Dayton Tri-Art Club, The Portrait Society of America, and the American Society of Portrait Painters.
Widely traveled, she visits art stores in many cities and says that "Nothing compares to McCallister's! They UNDERSTAND artists!"
Donna has a local studio where she accepts commissions in various media: oil, pastel, watercolor, charcoal, and where her work can be seen by appointment. |
